I have the herb set. You prune the herbs to take what you need and the basic plant continues to grow. The instructions say that the herbs last for 6 months.

It does continue to grow. I was amazed I took a salads worth of lettuce one day and the very next morning it had filled back in. Not completley but it was def growing in. The book that comes with the salad kit explains to only take 1/3 of each pods lettuce and it will continue to grow. It is remarkable.

Question

Can you grow different things at same time

Does anyone know if you can grow different things at the same time. Like several herbs and maybe lettice or tomatoes in the same Kitchen Garden at the same time. Or do you have to grow all herbs, or all tomatoes, or all lettuce each time. Thanks....

There is a different light setting for each set. You would have to ask the manufacturer what the difference is in lighting to figure that one out.

Yes you can. Though I would start in how long it takes to germinate. I made the mistake of doing all at once and I didn't realize how fast the lettuce grows. My herbs were just sprouting when the lettuce was creating shade for them, so I had to keep pushing the lettuce back. If you do start the herbs first make sure you either put plant spacers in the empty slots (until they are ready) or you cut cardboard or something and put over the holes. If you leave a open hole you are asking for algae to grow. The spacers you can get on the aerogarden website. I just know this from other bloggers. I have 2 aerogardens. The first one I learned the hard way the second one I cut cardboard.

Typically you want to grow the same types of things, but it might be possible to grow some herbs with lettuce. You must be careful of the plant size. There may also be a difference in the fertilizer tables used for herbs and lettuce.

You can't, however, grow tomatoes and lettuce at the same time because the tomatoes take up a lot of room. FYI: The tomato kit only has three seed pods (two red and one yellow) because of the size.

If you are interested in salad greens AeroGrow does have a variety of salad kits that have different types of lettuce.

I believe that when your garden is large (you've got the lights up as far as possible) that you could get 3 salads at once, and could probably do this every few days. Remember not to harvest more than 30% of your lettuce.

At our house, a salad is a side dish so yes, I think you could get three from this at one time. Once the salad greens kit gets going, you can pick greens almost daily just to keep it under control. :D

I pick the greens from the largest leaves and never all from the same plant. Do this and the plants will keep producing for quite a long time.

This depends on the seed kit; plants are different. The herb and salad greens kits, however, are some of the longest-lived kits I've ever had. Pick each as they get tall, a few from each pod, and let the rest grow.

There are additional seed sets you can buy which include the seeds/pod they come in. They sell them in a variety of sets which you can find on their site--not the QVC site--online.

I can't see why you couldn't do that. I grow cuttings--not from this set-- in water, then transplant them. Logic dictates you could do the same with these plants.

Yes you can. If you go to the aerogarden website they have these Garden Starter Refill Packs, where you put in your own seeds. You would use the containers from the veggie/herb kit.

Yes you can with the Master Gardener kit from AeroGarden. The kits are designed for the 7 pod "Classic" gardens like this one. Note that the Master Gardener kit will not work with the 6 pod gardens.

Question

how to plant mixing salad greens and herbs

The seed boxes say to plant in the aerogarden the same way the pods are placed in the box. If I want to mix greens and herbs, should I do the same thing. For example, plant the 4 lettuce pods in the back (as they appear in the box) and 3 herb pods in the front (as they appear in the box)? Hopefully, my question will make sense to somebody (I hope)!

IT sounds like you want to mix two sets. If that is that case, then I do not know if the light setting for lettuce greens would be the same as the light setting for herbs. It might be worth asking the manufacturer. That is the only thing I would be concerned about.

It is my understanding that it is not recommended to mix the green kits with the herb kits because of the different nutrient and light requirements. That is why there are different settings on the front of the AeroGarden. Check out the AeroGarden company website. It is full of information and tips. Hope this helps!

Yes, mine did. I purchased mine in mid-summer and I had fresh herbs for the remainder of the summer into fall. The weather was stiffling here in Pennsylvania during the month of August too. Now, with that having been said, I had to fill the tank more frequently, but that was easy peazy.
